The Clean Energy Solutions Center, in partnership with the Collaborative Labeling and Appliance Standards Program (CLASP) and the Efficiency for Access Coalition, hosted this webinar on how policymakers can use test methods, quality standards and labelling to promote high-performing, off-grid appropriate appliances. Panelist reviewed the benefits high-performing products can have for off-grid markets, and they discussed options for integrating standards and labelling programs into regional and national policies.
The Efficiency for Access Coalition Secretariat shared key recommendations from its first policy brief, Promoting High-performing Off-grid Appliances. And experts from the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and Kenya Energy Regulatory Commission reflected on the brief’s contents and share insights from their direct experiences at the regional and national levels.
Though it was geared towards policy audiences, the webinar was suitable for a number of groups invested in sourcing and promoting quality products, including development agencies, bulk procurers and microfinance institutions.
Participants
- Charles Diarra, Energy Efficiency Expert at the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE)
- Nickson Bukachi, Senior Renewable Energy Officer at the Kenya Energy Regulatory Commission
- Ari Reeves, Senior Manager at CLASP, Efficiency for Access Co-Secretariat (Co-Moderator)
- Naomi Wagura, Senior Associate at CLASP, Efficiency for Access Co-Secretariat (Co-Moderator)
The expert panel was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the audience.
