Distributed Photovoltaic Economic Impact Analysis in the Philippines

The Clean Energy Solutions Center—in partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)—hosted this webinar on the economic impact analysis of distributed photovoltaics in the Philippines.

In collaboration with the Philippines Department of Energy, USAID, through USAID Clean Power Asia, has partnered with NREL and LBNL to conduct a study to evaluate the economic and technical implications of distributed photovoltaic (DPV) deployment in the Philippines. The study presents research and provides data-driven analysis on three key impacts of DPV adoption, and it examines their implications for potential policy and regulatory revisions. The design of the study aims to provide data and facts to inform policymakers’ and regulators’ efforts to achieve a balance between incentivizing DPV investment and minimizing negative impacts on the distribution utilities, non-DPV customers, and the distribution grid. The report of the study is titled Distributed Photovoltaic Economic and Technical Impact Analysis in the Philippines.

In the webinar, panelists specifically discussed the economic impact and utility revenue impact of DPV deployment in the Philippines. And the webinar conclude with a Q&A session.
