Aligning NDCs and LTS: Transport

28 August 2024

Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-Term Strategies (LTS) are at the heart of climate planning for many countries. In 2025, countries will submit updated NDCs to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) highlighting their new or updated goals to reach commitments outlined in the Paris Agreement.

This year, GCAP, in partnership with the UNFCCC, will bring members together for the first global workshop since the pandemic. Focusing on NDCs and LTS, the global workshop will support countries in aligning their NDCs with long-term goals and provide pathways for planning, implementing, and financing those commitments. Leading up to the workshop, this webinar series, presented in partnership with the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Clean Energy Solutions Center, will highlight key elements of the NDC and LTS processes as well as share experiences from policymakers around the world.

In the fifth webinar in this series, panelists outline key opportunities to decarbonize the transport sector in line with global climate goals. Distinguished panelists share practical strategies and actionable insights for decarbonizing the transport sector, drawing from their extensive experience in implementing effective solutions. After the presentations, participants engage in Q&A with the experts.

Speakers include:

• Dale Hall, The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT)
• Carolina Chantrill, Asociación Sustentar
• Paul Basantes Sánchez, The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
• Aaron Ng, The U.S. Department of Energy
