The Philippines, rich in solar, wind, and renewable energy resources, aims to ensure sustainable, accessible, and affordable energy. The Philippines’ Department of Energy and U.S. Agency for International Development lead this study on the operational effects of high solar and wind penetration, focusing on the integrated Luzon-Visayas grids. Key findings include attainable 30% and 50% Renewable Energy targets by 2030; flexibility for cost-effective RE integration; coordinated generation and transmission planning; strategic curtailment benefits; and potential reserve provision challenges.
