IEA’s Energy Technology Perspectives 2024 report builds upon previous analysis, discussing the intersection of energy, manufacturing, and trade in regard to public policy and energy transitions. Building upon 2021 analysis, they focus on the importance of the “new energy economy” focused on renewables and meeting climate agreements. Clean energy manufacturing is booming, with the potential to uplift emerging economies, and increasing the demand for international trade. Highlighting the need for increased trade, the report recognizes ports and ships as a major player in global decarbonization efforts.
