This report details the importance of Women in the renewable energy sector, specifically their impact in decentralized solar PV in developing economies. This report offers a unique gender perspective, calling for the acceleration of female workforce development, focus on women as a key stakeholder in solar PV deployment, and how women play a pivotal role in scaling the deployment of solar PV in developing communities. This report outlines the barriers of entry for women’s employment in the PV sector, and discusses the challenges and opportunities this presents. Throughout the report, the authors highlight women as a vital factor of success for the clean energy transition. Specifically, they discuss how women, particularly in developing economies, offer unique perspectives on energy needs and demand, serving a majority of household duties in many communities, they over nuanced views, and represent unique demands.
