COP26 Global Product Efficiency Call to Action

Ahead of COP26 in November 2021, the SEAD Initiative and its partners are focusing on an ambitious initiative to double the energy efficiency of four key products that together account for over 40% of global electricity demand:

Industrial motor systems
Air conditioners
Refrigerators
Lighting
Doubling their efficiency in all 21 SEAD member countries can cut energy consumption by over 5,000 TWh, equivalent to removing more than 2,200 coal-fired power plants. These savings would avoid over 2 Gt of CO2 emissions per year in 2030, and produce additional benefits for air quality, health and jobs.
