CEM12 will focus on:
- Determining the medium and long-term role of clean energy in supporting the economic recovery from the COVID19-pandemic.
- Building momentum towards the commitment to cut emissions, ahead of COP26 taking place in November 2021.
- Continuing to shift towards cleaner economics, raising ambition and accelerating clean energy transitions.

CEM3.0 – the Next Phase of the CEM
On the road to COP26, CEM Members will come to the 12th Clean Energy Ministerial to agree to a strengthened programme of international collaboration that will supercharge clean energy transitions over the next five years.
HIGH-LEVEL LAUNCHES, 1 June 2021
On 1 June, CEM Members and partners will come together to publicly launch four new workstreams that help to supercharge the scale, sectors, and society of the clean energy transition.
Launch of Industrial Deep Decarbonisation Initiative—13:00 CEST
Major global economies- led by the United Kingdom and India- will announce a new multi-year collaboration to drive forward a new clean industrial revolution. Heavy industry- hard to abate, impossible to ignore.
Launch of Global Hydrogen Ports Coalition – 14:05 CEST
A major new global network will be launched to supercharge the use of hydrogen at shipping ports, accelerating their clean energy transitions.
Launch of Empowering People Initiative – 15:10 CEST
Canada, the European Commission, and the United States will announce their leadership of a new global coalition to help build the clean energy workforce the world needs and support greater citizen engagement in clean energy transitions—let’s start empowering people!
Launch of Biofuture Campaign – 18:45 CEST
A campaign of the Biofuture Initiative, this new campaign will work to grow the global bioeconomy and accelerate the adoption of sustainable bio-based products as part of building our clean energy future.

‘’Ambition into Action—Turning a year of Action into a Decade of Delivery’’

Open to all, this year’s plenary will include remarks from Energy Ministers from CEM Member countries and heads of international organizations.
It aims to discuss the coming decade of clean energy transitions from 3 different angles, namely:
- Supercharging Scale: identifying solutions for massive deployment this decade
- Supercharging Sectors: Identifying opportunities for clean energy in every-sector and whole of government approaches
- Supercharging Society: identifying actions to ensure an inclusive, whole of society approach to transitions
