At the sixth Clean Energy Ministerial, Dr. Christoph Frei of the World Energy Council introduced the trilemma and presented insights gathered through national workshops on the challenges and opportunities for CEM member countries to meet clean energy goals.
Tracking Clean Energy Progress 2015 reviews progress in 19 energy technology/sector areas & identifies key policy and technology measures that energy ministers and their governments can take to scale up deployment, while also demonstrating the potential to save energy and reduce emissions.
The report reviews the views of energy sector stakeholders interviewed by the World Energy Council on what is needed from the 2015 negotiations in Paris on climate change (COP21) to enable them to continue to make progress on balancing the trilemma goals effectively across all the regions of the world. The report also identifies five enablers that are key to the successful transition to a low-carbon energy system.
